Beginners | 4 Classes | Adults & 15+

Who can learn Aikido?

Anyone who wishes to:

  • Improve mental & physical stamina & flexibility

  • Increase focus & discipline.

  • Challenge themselves.

These classes are for adults & older teens of 15+ years of age.

For children aged 10-14, please see our children & teen’s programme.

Trial Classes- what to expect

4 classes that involve the following:

  • Learning how to fall safely (ukemi).
  • Warm-up stretches, hand & footwork drills, & ukemi practice.

  • Techniques such as throws, locks, & pins.

  • Students learn to both apply & receive techniques safely & effectively.

What should I wear?

For trial sessions you may wear loose, comfortable clothing. Long sleeves are recommended. If you wish to continue after the trial period you will need to wear a white Keiko gi. Please ask if unsure.

What if I already have Aikido experience?

If you have experience training Aikido elsewhere previously and may like to join Gyodokan Dojo, you may come for an evening on the visitor rates (See schedule & fees). After which, if you would like to join, we request you complete the 4 session trial period. Please contact us to arrange your first visit.

When can I do my trial sessions?

The instructors usually accept people for trial lessons on Tuesdays from 6:30-7:30 and Thursdays 6:30-7:30 or 7:30-8:30. Please note we cannot accommodate trials on Mondays or during the Tuesday Weapons lesson. Your 4 session trial expires after 2 months.

Beginner’s Trial Fee

It takes several sessions to start to get a feel for what Aikido training involves. We therefore offer a 4 class trial period* for a total of

*Classes expire after 2 months.

Please note, walk-ins are not permitted and all lessons must be confirmed in advance. Walk-ins will be turned away, please book to avoid disappointment.
